This is the 2nd unit I have where periodically I push the backlight button and nothing happens. The button push is being registered as if you hold it down the menu will come up. If I wait for a while then push the backlight will come back on.

BTW, this is my 4th unit,

Unit 1 - Backlight would never go off
Unit 2 - The text on the screen would get shifted right when pushing the home button
Unit 3 - Backlight sometimes does not light
Unit 4 - Same thing

Quality control is pathetic!

I already sent my first unit back for the same problem. I was told that they've identified a bad transformer responsible for controlling the backlight as the culprit.

According to RTI, they are testing all production units for this problem. You may want to deal directly with RTI to correct the problem. I hope we are not talking about a widespread problem affecting existing inventory. RTI has a long history of using us installers as their QC agents in the field.

I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that experienced the 4-500% failure rates on the T2. That is an experience that I do not wish on anyone...time will tell

My backlight would intermittently fail to come on the first T2+ I rec'd. I tried to deal directly with RTI on this but they would not replace it directly and insisted that I go through my dealer. My dealer did replace the remote and it's been working well.

The only complaint I now have is when pressing the top portion of the touchscreen it makes a creaking noise. I took the case off and it only makes the noise with the case on so must be something with the plastic molding fitting too tight near the top of the screen.

Of 3 T2+'s I have purchased:

all exhibit LCD shutdown: I have NEVER seen a low battery symbol on a T2+:

this happens especially after downloads which seem to stress the battery:giving it a few minutes off/ putting in charger base seems to correct the problem

a third T2+ seemed to do this (blanking of LCD) more often and I returned it

when LCD shut down occurs, the remote is still otherwise operational!

We have done about 14 T2+ remotes. I've had a couple have the backlight problem, but let the screen time out and then tilt up and everything seems to be back to normal? I hope they get it all together because I for one love these remotes and the software, needless to say! I'm getting ready to do my first rp-6 next week. It looks pretty simple so far.

I love this site, its so informative and easy to use!
