i am using a t2+ with an rp-6 and rf antenna for the first time. i want to transmit commands to the antenna and use the controller to distribute to IR controlled devices. how do i go about programming the controller in theatertouch and setting up the remote to emit rf?

Hello: here are the basic elements to get you started:

You setup a program with a T2+ and add an RP-6 (add device)

Program the T2+ and set commands (right click properties) to: Device default: RF trigger codes: you can setup macros in the T2+ and in the RP-6

You can set assignable output ports on the RP-6 if you have 2.01 firmware

When you have your program ready, download the program to BOTH the T2+ and RP-6 as indicated: be certain you disconnect the USB cables before you try the system

there is a lot more to it: these are the just the basics

what is the advantage to placing macros in the controller as opposed to the remote? how do i assign a button push on the remote to trigger the macro in the controller?

Just do all of your macro programing on the remote when you first start out. If you are experienced with the T2 then you will be more than happy with the results you get with the T2+.

I was told there are very few reason's to use the rp6 for macro's. One reason would be to use the remote to give RF and IR commands at the same time. You would use the remote to transmit IR and trigger the RF macro in the rp6.
