Picked up a T1 as a demo unit today and I have to admit it is a great remote for the price. Even comes with 3 sheets of 32 interchangeable pre labeled buttons. The back-lit buttons are very bright and easy on the eyes; uses the same 2.0 software as the T2+
I highly recommend purchasing this remote over the MX 500 – 700, it is easier to program, more useful and looks way better to boot.

I'll agree that the T1 is excellent remote, even as a primary home theater remote, no frills. But I now can sell and program these for most of the rooms in a household where before the customer didn't want to cough up the money for a T2. And have one just for zone 2 or zone 3 on a multi zone receiver that can be used anywhere in the house.

One thing to note is that you cannot!! merge your existing remote files into this remote, you have to do each one from scratch or until you do enough to start merging files. Also unless you put a pre labeled button "on" in one of your open slots, you will have to have equipment with discrete power commands so that the customer can just press a device and have everything stay in sync or else use some of the video or power sensors.

So far I am amazed at how well the RP-6 has been working in terms of range and macro triggering. I can now sell systems that were not possible before.

What do you think is limited about the T1?

I'm just saying for the price..... and underline the for the price part, the number of buttons you can actually program for different functions is limited.

I'm impressed with the remote itself. It is a maybe (at this price point) if only used IR. Add in the antenna module and just a small xantech connecting block and a few flashers to convert it to an RF remote and you are getting into the price range of many RF remotes with tons more felxibility. And since you cannot set the remote to a different code without using RTIs base station, you can't put two of them in the same house and use them RF without spending considerably more money.

I'm not knocking the remote. I am knocking the price.

***** Necessary update to my above post.... Correcting some mis-information. *****

Being able to use the RM-433 antenna with a xantech block to make a less expensive RF system when all the bells and whistles of the RTI base unit are not needed...... Won't work.

The remotes only output IR when set to stand alone mode. Once you switch them to RF, they look to the base unit to send the macros.

By the time you add the antenna and new base unit to the price of the T1, you are way over the price of an MX-800...close to double the price depending on your margins.... for a remote with limited flexibility.

I understand RTI has had enough complaints over the price of the new antenna / base unit to be working on a lower priced version..... but who knows how long it will take them to actually get it on the market.

It's a nice little remote, they just made it way to expensive to use RF, and it is very rare for us to not use RF on an installation. We have already returned the one we bought.
