I was planning to buy a T2 several weeks ago - a lightning strike went thru my (Monster Reference) surge protector/ line conditioner and "fried" several pieces of equipment. Now that that's fixed, I'm back on the market for an RTI . . . . .
I'm torn . . . . . there are no reivews of the T2+ out there (Is the build quality the same? Does it function as well? Why is it cheaper? Is it as "cool"? Is it available in black?) . . . but it is newer technology than the T2 . . . so should I get the T2+ or get the T2? Is the price on the T2 going to go down now that the T2+ has been released?
What do you guys that have seen and used them both think?

These are all very good questions, but I have not spoken with anyone who has any answers yet. I do know from experience that the new software is way cooler. But I am very disappointed that they chose to eliminate the physical power button?

I was supposed to receive a shipment of T2+ Remotes on Friday, but they never arrived. Further, I just found out they had not been shipped as promised, and no one has any answers as to why, or when they are going to ship, I am going to call the president of RTI and try to get some real answers for everyone.

RTI was very helpful with resolving the problem surrounding the above statement. Product will be arriving at authorized distributors, in increasing quantities over the next few weeks :)

I just received this message today

Hello David,

"We are expecting a shipment of T2+ remotes to come in sometime next week, pending clearance from customs.""each distributor would be receiving some from that shipment, arriving to distributors sometime in the next couple weeks. "

Answers to other questions!
The new remotes are built on super tolerant automated machines, so they can build 10 times as many remotes in half the time.

The keypad and LCD display are now molded onto one board eliminating that failure point.

They were able to eliminate 5 chips, reducing cost, weight, and failure areas.

The new internal lithium ion battery will last about a week without recharging.

RTI will be releasing new optional hardware (not listed on their site) for the T2+ in the coming months.

I ordered the T2+ system and have been looking at the v2.0 software in the meantime

There seem to be a lot of improvements particularly the docking station

Now if only they would ship them out!

I decided to go ahead and order the T2+ . . . . . in the meantime, can I look at and/or use the software for it (not being a dealer I don't have a password)?

You have to ask for the info from your dealer: this troubles me that RTI no longer gives access to the software: even Crestron makes their software available on their site without need of a password

Anyone considering the new T2+ should resolve this issue with their dealer as part of the purchase: be sure you will have access to the software and updates

I hope RTI changes their policy and makes the 2.0 software available to all

I believe the software comes with the new remote, I am still scratching my head over the download issue though, does not make much sense to me either. Maybe they are just waiting to see how the first run goes. Never the less, I know that RTI is working hard to improve all aspects of their operation, so I am sure this get worked out as well.

Yes and they are all sold already, waiting for my next shipment. I have to say it is a pretty cool new design. Much lighter and feels better in your hand.

There is no trade in policy, however I have been considering doing that kind of service myself for the newer T2's.
