I've used the RTI T2 for 4 years (in that period I've tried the Pronto and my iPAQ 2215 with Nevo, and I still prefer the RTI).
I've being programing it with different laptops, conecting the RTI to a USB port with the Belkin USB-Serial Adapter (Belkin F5U103). However now I bought a new Toshiba Satellite M35-S359 with Windows XP Home, and although I downloaded and installed the latest driver from Belkin, and it assigned Port 4 to the converter, when I launch the Theater Touch program it does not find the RTI.
Can anybody help me?
I went through all the threads about the RTI and was surprised not to find other users having problems with the connections, specially because none of the new laptops have serial ports.

Thanks in advance for any help.

None? There are plenty of laptops out there with Serial ports. Dell for one.........

Have you tried switching the port over to COM1?(Device Manager, Com Ports, settings)
The RTI Should be able to find Com4, but you never know....

And last but not least, get a Keyspan Adaptor. the Real USB to RS232 one. It is the ONLY adaptor I've never heard a complaing about with ANY remote. and its the only one in our COmpaq Laptop Cases......

I tried your advice, but it doesn't work.
By the way... NONE of the NEW laptops, at least from Toshiba and Sony come with Serial Ports.
Thanks anyway.

It is tough shopping for an RS232 port on a laptop these days, but it can be found: some Dell and Compaq/HP laptops still have them (or there are docking stations with port replicators that include them on other brands)

I would not buy a laptop unless it had provisions for a serial port: many USB to serial devices are problematic

Ricardo, I've had the same problem. Have a Belkin USB to Serial adapter which didn't work and with RTI's recommendation bought a IOGear adapter which didn't work either. Booted up an old pc I had that has a serial connection and used that...could never get the USB adapter thing to work so I gave up

Ricardo..solved the problem. Change the port to 1 or 2...the RTI doesn't recognize the higher ports on XP. I finally got mine to work.

Using COM1 with XP Home..... never had a problem with it.

Did notice you are in Argentina though.... might be a difference in XP if you are not using the North American version.
