You can have up to one of the commands in the macro sustain by double-clicking on the command in the Macro Editor, and checking the "Repeat while button is pressed" box.

Those are just a few of the GREAT things about this remote.
You CAN change the number of repeats on an IR code to customize it to your needs.
You CAN turn the sustain on and off on an IR code to customize it to your needs.
That is the GREAT thing, there is no right configuration for every situation, everybody’s system is different and THIS remote sure seems to be able handle them well!

BTW DJ, I did at some point simply put both the navigation command (e.g. Arrow Right) and transport control (e.g. Play) right after each other in a macro, to eliminate any overhead by the button test. But the time needed to send the transport command still caused noticable delay in navigating the DVD menu.

On your question 2: in my experience it is handy to create a new page when I either want to use buttons differently (without having to resort to double-click or hold), or when having to jump back to a screen that is otherwise not the first page.

Sorry, I forgot one of your questions. Whether to use more frames or separate pages will depend on the situation. I've used both. If you look at my DSS1 configuration, I use three pages - one for the device one for video channels and one for music channels, each with at most two frames, and main DSS functions accessible through the hard buttons in all pages by duping all the hard buttons.

On the other hand the SVHS and TV pages have 5 frames each with no additional pages, because many of the functions are adjustments and set up stuff that are not used very often, and every link button to another page takes away one command button that's handily accessed.

Tried with the repeat set to 0, and it indeed made a little difference. But it is still nowhere near as responsive as straight commands. With straight commands, I can navigate as fast as I can click. With the macros, you have to "find a rythm", occasionally getting no response out of a press.

My DVD did not react differently to sustain on or off.

I'll stick with touchscreen based transport control for now. I did for a while jump to a separate navigation page, but got frustrated each time I forgot to manually exit the navigation page.

Oh well...this remote still RULES!

Thanks for your insights. The overall conclusion I was headed for was that in designing your page allocations, it's better to think in terms of functionality rather than physical devices as a basis for deciding whether to start a new page or continue with another frame.

It also seems as though a software upgrade that allowed jumps to individual frames would eliminate this issue, and also significantly expand the storage capability of the device (hint hint).

In response to RTI's IR library: Go to [Link: lexicon.com] and download the more comprehensive master.cml IR file for the 700T remote. You can then switch between librarys while programming.
