You are not alone RTI Installer. Out of all the T2's we have sold, we do not have a single customer that would give it up... even those who have had to have one replaced.

However, I am tired of answering the same negative posts over and over. I have better things to do with my time... and there is not a thing I can add to my previous posts.

As I have posted before, I remain curious why those who hate the T-2.... continue to bother with it... or waste their time in this forum.

One last thing I would like to say. Over the past year or so, twice I have seen someone posting a positive comment about the T-2 basically accused of being a plant for RTI.

There is as much intelligence in making that accusation as there would be in me saying those who make negative posts work for Universal Remotes or Pronto.

I have used my t2 flawlessly for the last 2.5 years after an initial screen failure. The software is second to none with remarkable macro abilities. The ergonomics are great with excellent balance. Nice backlighting. If my batteries were not toast, I probably wouldn't be looking at getting another remote right now.

I have just implemented a MX800 in my system, not bad for the money. I basically wanted to try something different. What I like about the 800: More buttons with transport control, better RF reception, uses standard batteries. The sofware is not as intuitive with no drag and drop abilities that I have found as of yet. The macros are ok. I have only had it a couple days so far. Backlighting sucks, have to hit a button to activate.

I have sold a number of these in the last couple of years and find using and programming of the unit excellent. All my customers love their T2 and would not part with them. The only draw back has been the screen problem and the older IR range problem. I cannot believe how good RTI has been to fix or replace these units that where problems. No other company has supported problems in this way in my 25 years experience of working with countless vendors and manufacturers. (On my part for service , I cycled my demo unit to clients while the defective unit was away getting fixed or repaired.)

Hoping to see more products from RTI.

Hey MikePiotti, Would you like to buy some new batteries for your RTI?

Sounds like you have not found a source for them; if that is the case I can get them for you.

Problem with positive commentary is that remote does not live up to its IR range specs without some kind of "tweak" that most of us (a) don't know (b) shouldn't have to do in an item of this price range, and (c)shouldn't have to add more $$ to our costs to purchase a "secret" fix from someone who, like yourself might offer to some of us who suffer "iffy" performance. I would become positive if they will take back the remotes and fix them or trade them in for the new and improved model for a nominal fee.

Unless there has been a recent policy change, RTI WILL definitely exchange an out of warranty unit for a new one for $150. All you have to do is ask.

I have two T2's in my house, one in the main viewing room another in my home office to mute the sound when the phone rings and to contol the exhaust fan and outdoor lights. Had the screen replaced once on the older unit, no trouble with the newer one. A small sample indeed but I am quite pleased with my T2's.

I have used many rti's and had some hair pulling problems but the clients love them. They do not like the Home Theater Master product as much. rti has been good about replacing them and I have not had a problem this year. I am sure to replace some that are out there soon though. Nobody likes the Prontos.

I am at peace with them.

the T2 is still my remote of choice-

have several of them at home and have spent a lot of time trying others: this includes the Pronto Pro, iPronto, MX700/800, Niles Intellicontrol and Crestron ST-1550C

I keep coming back to the T2 with IRF-6: I mod the RF module to put a BNC bulkhead connector right on the case for the external antenna

I think its strongest point is the software: you can do more with RTI software and it is easy to use: what other remote in its price class has an RS232 module?

I have had a couple T2's LCD screens go bad: replaced under warranty at no charge- no questions asked

I have heard there is a beta test program for an improved IRF-6 and an improved T2

I assure you I do not work for RTI

I would agree that the T2 is a great remote. I really love the ergonomics, and as you described, the software is wonderful.

For the past two weeks I have been using a MX800. It was much more difficult to program, but now that it is done, I am enjoying this remote. The RF is MUCH more reliable in my setup. In fact it works anywhere in my house whereas the IRF-6 was unusable past 30' and was really only 85% within 10'. I understand modding could improve my results, but I am not very good with a soldering iron.

When I bought the T2 package, it was the only game in town for the price. I do hope for RTI's sake they do improve the IRF-6. I still need to get some replacement batteries, but I have been lazy about it since getting the MX800.

I was was using the T2 exclusively in RF mode for the past two years. I switched it over the IR to learn some codes in the MX800, and that basically finished the batteries off for good as they now no longer accept a charge.

I would love to get in on a beta testing program for the new IRF-6.

I have used the RTI T2 for about 3 years and really liked it. I just began using the MX-700 and once programmed, everyone who uses it prefers it over the T2. The biggest improvement of the MX-700 over the RTI is that we no longer need to reach out our arm and aim precisely at the remote sensor. We also no longer need to change the battery every 6 days (when it was new it was about every 9 days).

Additional transport buttons are also an improvement. The RTI still has the better programming software and I really miss the tilt-illuminate feature, but until I see the next generation of RTI remotes I would not go back to the T2.
