Hello,
Is it possible to give button three states of color. Please see attached image. The button under status I would like to show in three stats,
1. In system off mode be invisible
2. In cool mode be blue
3. In heat mode be red

Colors are just a suggestion, but I can only get it to show in two colors, and also only for heat button with reversed and inactive state. I guess the question is, can I have the status button colors controlled by three buttons, heat, cool and off.

Yes, but it requires something called an imagelist. I use one with 4 states for Nest. Heat / cool / heat-cool (auto) / off. I use the driver feedback for the current mode and tie it to the imagelist.

The problem with these is you need to know a little about XML files. Your images, and the XML have to all go into a single folder, and you select one of the states as the sample image that will be viewable in ID when editing. Then you browse that folder from ID and drag it into a page from the bitmaps tab.

That ring around the center (in the graphical example below) is what changes depending on the selected mode. The feedback also changes on the buttons themselves. The "notches" are also imagelists that tie back to the current temperature feedback for ambient and target. They operate just like the ones on the actual thermostat. They all have at least 50 states all rolled into a single imagelist / button.

Been doing this a long time.... can pretty much do anything with RTI (graphically).

By the way, there is a second way to do this. It requires no imagelists or special skills. Do you have the images you want to use for heat, cool, auto, off etc...? I forgot that I did something similar when I had to find a workaround for a MyQ driver. I needed to show open / closed / in-motion without using an imagelist and figured out a way.

Hello gwstudios,

First I apologize for the late reply. I did not get a email showing a response, and greatly appreciate your time in replying. I do have the images to use. The first way you described I think is way over my pay grade, HA.

Thank you
JR
