Does anyone know where I can find the rs 232 codes for the remote commander. Thanks to Spaceman for directing me in a different direction, i.e. using a serial input. I now have the cable constructed and need to find the codes to send to turn the unit on and off.

Thanks!

Cougmeister, I have sent you an email containing
a program called PJ-serial, I think you will find the
codes there.

Spaceman,

Yes the codes are there. I have had some difficulty tring to figure out how to calculate the codes. I think this is the way to do so...

If you have a laptop you can connect to the serial cable this will be easier because you can direct connect with a PC using this program.
Select G90
I have to assume the header info is correct by default by choosing G90.
Go to command.
Choose set
choose set power on/off
Choose value on
click calculate checksum - this should fill in the checksum value (it will be used to validate that the string has not been corrupted on passthru).
give it a comment "power on" not needed but will help when you pull values from file.
test command if you have laptop/connection setup.
add command - this will add the command to saved command list
Now you can save the file out - file/save
Open the file and cut/paste the data into a string command in rti. It should only be the hex values ie "A5|01|00|01|00|01|03|00|01|00|01|13|04|10|03|00|01|01|06|5A"
I am not sure if the | delimiter is needed or not?

Thanks again.

Cougmeister,

To have TheaterTouch software recognize hex data, just put a \x before every hex data pair. For your example,
\xA5\x01\x00\x01 . . .

Unfortunately, the software "prefers" ASCII, then decimal. After you enter the hex string, your RS-232 command string will be displayed as a mixture of ASCII characters (if a hex pair maps to an ASCII character), and decimal numbers (displayed as \dnnn). It makes it very hard to recognize the string when you come back to it a few days later.

Gary,

Thanks for the information. I called RTI and they too were very helpful.

\xHH is correct for hex characters in the T2. It was interesting that several other things were very important.

I was told by an installer that the parity was "none". RTI tech service read through the g90 manual and found that the parity was to be "even"!!! This along with their tech support telling me to be sure the 4-mini plug was pushed hard all the way in...made it work!!! It is really exciting when you work on something for a long time and finally have it function properly.

I learned that the macros you create cannot exceed 60 characters. But one character is \xHH. So it really is like 240 characters. Tech also told me that the macro editor will let you know if you have exceeded the 60 character limit. Good information when you think you have exceeded the limit.

Thanks for everyones help.

I am trying to do a GUI that has the same funtions as a remote control. I would like the VB code that would generate API commands communicate with a Polycom unit.
