I’m not an integrator but I got the software from an old friend that used to be an integrator. Anyway, I’m doing work at a friends house on some RTI remotes of this model that work with their home automation system from Crestron. The system is pretty dated but it work well. My issue is that in one room their RTI remote is acting up, it will continuously boot loop and display the RTI boot screen and in between loops it makes a hissing noise. I took it apart and sometimes when I put pressure randomly, it’ll boot and work fine for awhile but then it’ll freeze and do the same thing. Is there some way to fix this? Another issue is that when I attempt to connect it to my laptop and use ID9.8 my windows would say there’s an error with the device and now most recently when I try windows doesn’t recognize it at all. What is going on? I want to get the config off so I can copy it to a new remote or fix this one.

You should be able to utilize recovery wizard. Initially, it sounded like a battery issue but the pressure portion of your description indicates it’s boned. Good luck!

Try a different USB port and give it time to load the driver properly too. Would perhaps grab a working unit to do this first.

Yeah, if I hit it it works too, but not for long. I’m just calling it toast, it’s the remote that gets the most use in the house anyway. I reprogrammed another remote all I’ve gotta do is trial and error which Crestron RF system ID it is. I tried the recovery wizard, my laptop just doesn’t even awknowlege it anymore. I’ve tried different ports, I’ve retarted windows, and I’ve used it with other remotes of the same model and driver and they work flawlessly, the remote must just be toast.
