Hello,
We have 3 Sony DVD/VCR combo units (Sony SLV-D100) and I can't find any discrete codes. I've tried all of the normal Hidden Sony codes but they do not work (presumably because it is a combo unit), and Sony has said it is also because the internal components are Samsung.

Is there any way to get these codes by editing the toggle power command?

If anyone can help, I need the following:

1. Discrete ON command
2. Discrete OFF command
3. Discrete TV command (so the VCR can change TV channels)
4. Discrete Video command (to change the VCR back to the VCR tape mode).

Thank you!

I haven't seen any Sony devices that use Samsung IR commands, but I haven't seen any IR information on the SLV-D100 either. I think it's worth checking whether the above statement means this device uses Samsung IR commands.

If you have any commands learned from the original remote in a CML file, you can use my decoder program (see info a couple threads down) to determine which protocol and device number is being used. That thread describes one of the ways that knowing the protocol and device number can help you find missing commands. There are other ways. Post the protocol and device number once you find them if you want more ideas (reasonable next steps would be very different depending on whether you find the standard Sony VCR commands, vs. non standard Sony command, vs Samsung "NECx" commands, vs. something else).

If you can't figure out how to decode a CML file, give me access to a copy of a CML (with several learned signals of your remote) and I'll decode it. A URL to a web copy here or elsewhere is better, but emailing the CML file is OK if you can't provide a URL.

Any process of editing codes should be guided by first decoding them.
