I'm looking for some ideas on how to write a macro in ID that would open up the apps, open Youtube (for example) and play a 4K playlist on an new LG 4K television. The problem I'm having trouble wrapping my head around is how to get the "Smart" button above the cursor to consistently open up with the same block highlighted every time. It seems to jump around, especially if some has been using it. Is there a discreet "Youtube" command? Any ideas that have worked for you?

Unfortunately there is no real reliable way to do this. In fact, 4K LG to date have not been very reliable in terms of control and have actually taken a step back from its 1080p predecessors. Using general commands, you may be able to string some together to achieve what you want. However, this would be considered a workaround, and due to the quirks and pitfalls of Smart TV, it might not work at all under certain circumstances.

Most if not all TV manufacturers have done little in terms of allowing for control of Smart TV functions. Sharp seems to have the best API for means of app control, but nothing very comprehensive. At least you could save some apps as favorites and launch them via IP.

My advice would be to not make a bad situation worse. Unless LG can come up with some API that would allow for better integration you might frustrate the customer before you make them happy.

Hey! Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to think the RTI section was dead! Fortunately, this is only for me at this point as I've not had any requests to incorporate Smart TV into a client's remote. And I'll monkey with it at home until I'm blue in the face or the processor runs out of memory, which ever comes first! The toughest part I see is getting it to land reliably at the same location on a Smart TV page. But it seems to open with the cursor in a different place most of the time.
