Hi all,
It has been some time, I am going to give my neighbor for his birthday an XP-3. It has been a while since I programmed one of these systems and was hoping someone can answer some questions for me.
1- The XP-3 will be a stand alone install, controlling tv, regular xfinity box and a dvd player. I want the ability to control the xp-3 via an ipad. I will need to buy a license for the ipad correct?
2- Where the controller is going to be installed, there is no Ethernet connection to router. What is the second best option if hard wiring to the router is not possible?
last but not least, is the XP-3 enough for what i am doing or should i purchase an XP-6?
Thanks in advanced for the help

An xp3 should be fine for a small system.
Yes, you have to buy a license for iPad.
If I did not have a hard wire connection I would do a remote. The only other option is a wireless bridge. Which I would not do.

You could use ethernet over power line, then it would appear to the Xp-3 that it was hardlined.

thanks for the replies, Ethernet over powerline, is the latency lower than wireless bridge? I think i did set up one network over powerline when the technology first came out. Any suggestions on equipment or brand to setup network over power line?
Thanks again.
