when connecting pc to t2x windows 10 keeps reporting a usb connection error

I haven't faced this yet in W10, but there could be a HID device conflict on the USB port. You could try rebooting the system. then use another USB port. There might be some comment in Device Manager.
Also, while not specific to the T2X, I find that disconnecting and rebooting the surly controller can be helpful.
RTI support might have some insight.

thanks all fixed, some how the file i was using was actually a T3x my error took a while to work out my mistake :(
