Hi,
I need to extend one of the IRF-6 outputs about 30' to where my tv and tivo are. The IRF-6 lives in the audio rack with the rest of the components, I have a unused Cat-5 cable that I could use but what parts do I need to do it?

I have used standard 22-4 solid wire for extending IR emitters with great success. CAT5 is 22 guage as well so I don't see why it wouldn't work. You might have to play with the IR output level at the IRF-6 for reliable operation. I have been able to extend IR emitters and light sensors in conjunction with the IRF-6 with 100% accuracy so far.

What emitters do you use to spice the cat-5 into and what do you use to butt-connect the wires? I just want something easy and clean :)

Xantech, Russound, Niles, all the same emitters. The non-blink are actualy more powerfull though.
I use standard phone line crimps, strip back the emitter wires and fold them over to make them thicker, so the crimp will grab.
