I am trying to send a magic packet (to wake up a computer), using the 2-way driver. What is the best way? The computer obviously doesn't have an IP address because it's switched off. Hence the packet has to be sent via UDP broadcast or directly to the MAC address. Any ideas?

I don't use it, but I believe the two way strings driver has some issues when trying to send hex data, so that may present challenges for you.

Why not just use the WOL driver that is posted in the 3rd party dev section on RTI's forums?

Indeed I had no luck trying to send hex codes. I tried escaping but no joy. The WOL driver, is that the Panasonic driver on your web site?

No although the Panasonic IP or the Sony BD driver use WOL to turn on those devices, so you could use them.

There is a specific driver called keep alive on the RTI forums under the 3rd party section that will do what want. (I did not write it).

Jay,
he's a DIY who has gotten hold of ID, that's why he can't access RTI or the forum.

That is correct - although I do not feel that I am doing anything dishonorable here, and I am neither depriving any of you guys, nor RTi, of your well-deserved earnings.

In fact I do not have any real alternatives to DIY since RTi is not well-represented in the part of the world where I live. If I can put work into my system, as I hope, I will share my solutions and contribute to the community - like I do on StackOverflow and actually also in my day job as a university teacher.

Conversely, if I cannot find a way to continue developing my system, I will end up moving to one of the (few) open-source alternatives - none of which has the quality and functionality of RTi (sigh).
