Hello everyone,

I'm considering purchasing a T2x for use almost exclusively with xbmc via the IP driver here: [Link: mydevice.com.au]

Does anyone know if this setup will provide nearly instant response on button presses? I'm looking for the equivalent speed of using a wireless logitech keyboard.

Thanks!

The Xbmc driver from my device works great!!! You will need an xp processor to run the driver in addition to the t2x remote.

It gives great response time for commands and also reliable feedback of what's playing and even lists to select movies and music from the Xbmc directly without using the onscreen menus

Hi ralliart329,

Thanks for the reply! I'm completely new to rti coming from urc, however the T2x says it has built in support for IP (802.11b/g), are you sure i'm going to need an xp processor to use it with the xbmc driver? I plan to get an xp-6 as well but i wasn't planning on getting one right away, was hoping to just use the remote for now.

The wifi is only for getting metadata from the xp and for programming. No driver runs on a remote. They all must run on xp. The remotes also can not do any ip control directly. This also requires xp.

The t2x has 433mhz for the RP series processors which allow one way control, 2.4ghz for the XP processors and two way device control. However the 2.4gjz zigbee is too slow for things like getting cover art or loading a weather radar image. These things must be done via wifi to the XP processor. Also with an xp processor in place you can wake the remote up over the zigbee network the. Send the programming to it over wifi.

Also I should mention if you're a new to RTI I highly recommend signing up for their own forum they host! This is the only place to find most of the third party drivers made! Also it has a great community of RTI geeks and die hards who know the product better then some of the tech support staff at RTI. And RTI staff also reads and posts on their forum. You get answers direct from the engineers and staff who make these drivers and software which is always nice. And they even respond on weekends.

But even if you never post there, the extra drivers you'll find makes it beyond worth it!

You've been extremely helpful ralliart, I really appreciate it! I'll go ahead and order an xp-6 and check out the forums you suggested as well.

One thing i'm still not sure about, can I get away with just using wifi/ethernet between the t2x and XP-6 or will i require an additional module like the RM-433 or ZM-24 no matter what?

You can use wifi strictly for communication if you'd like. However this will first drain the battery much faster and second you'll have a longer connection time when the remote first wakes up. For two way like this I always use the ZM-24 zigbee antenna and then only rely on the wifi for things like cover art that the zigbee can't handle. Now the remote works almost instantly on wakeup and zigbee even stays connected for hours of idle time and the wifi will not.

I have soley used wifi on these remoted only when zigbee would not work because of the concrete construction. It worked but I can't say I was very happy with it and do wish I could have done zigbee

I wanted to update this in case anyone else finds this in the future. My zigbee module has not arrived yet so I have been using wifi with an XP-6. Performance has been incredible! Button presses are instant, its the same experience as using a wired keyboard...just what I was after! This driver has worked great, it has tons of great I have yet to explore: [Link: mydevice.com.au]

Is there a way to use the ir library manager with the T2x or am I going to have to shell out for an IR-Pro (unless there's a cheaper alternative i'm unaware of that will also do the job? Thanks!
