Hi all, I am looking at buying a new home that is all finished except for the basement. It has ceiling speakers throughout the house and an IPad in the wall for AV control. It comes with an RTI XP-3 and an RTI AD-4. I take it from the model numbers that the AD-4 is an audio distribution unit but am not quite sure what the XP-3 is.

Can anyone help me with what I have and what I can do with these products and what I need to add to it to do more than just distribute audio? In order of preference I would like to be able to control things like Audio/Video, climate, alarm system, cameras, irrigation, lighting, blinds, .

I understand that RTI is a product that the dealer needs to program when things change but am just looking for options on what I need to do certain things.

Any help would be appreciated, I thank you in advance.

Look for a dealer in your area and see if you can dig up any documents or schematics for the system. This will save you $$ in the meeting and going forward.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

The xp3 is basically what you would coin as the central processor that makes all the magic happen. Ad4 gives you four controllable zones of audio. A quick google search on either will give you decent info. Yes you can do more with it besides just audio. You can expand control to your liking.

Idk what geographic location your in... Perhaps near one of us who are dealers and we can help.

I am in Southern Alberta, Canada.

Basically I guess what I am asking is if I will be able to control all the other stuff besides audio with what I have or what I would need more... considering that the main and upper levels are already finished. I am sure it has power and Cat 5E ran to all meda areas. There is also an alarm system just above the iPad on the wall, and the irrigation controller is an XCore.

Thanks for the replies, BTW

It really depends on what you want to do.
The XP3 controller is good for a small basic system.
If you wish to expand your system a consultation will be needed. Someone will want to know what wires have been run to where and what your wish list is.
RTI has a very full line of components that can be installed and programmed to accommodate most home owners desires.
There are also some very competent CI firms in Alberta so I imagine you should not have too much trouble finding someone qualified to help you.
I have done work in Calgary, but I think I would be a little expensive for this.

You are really looking at a huge can of worms asking a DIY product to do what you want.
