Hello,

I am a entry level programmer (sales guy today, lol) with previous experience in programming years ago when i installed systems.

Anyhow, i am experiencing a issue that i can not seem to figure out. I have my AVR connected via Rs-232, when i send a power off command the unit powers back on after a few seconds. I do not have a second code being sent, if i manually turn the AVR off via the front panel power button it will power back on a few seconds later!

Anyone have an idea of why? Its only when the serial cable is connected, it only does it when the processor is connected. If i reboot the processor then immediately power the avr off it stays off until the processor comes back online.

That's a new one in my book. Are you using one way serial commands or a two way driver? If you are using a two way driver I would call RTi to see if this model is compatible with their driver. If it's one way commands I'd suggest trying IR.

Maybe someone who's used this model before can be more help but I've never seen anything like that in all the RTI I've done in the last 8 years.

I assume you are using the driver. The older pioneer units(first 2-3 generations that had network and older) will turn on with any communication sent to them if they are powered off. The driver is constantly polling the unit based on how the newer units respond(it just returns whether its on or off instead of turning on). Even though they all use the same protocol or 99% of it the older ones responded differently for energy star ratings. I thought I read that the RTI developer that wrote that driver had a work around in the form of an unofficial driver but I have not used it. Try searching on RTI's forums.

^^^^^^ nailed it.

I have VSX-94 that turns on whenever I upload a change to the system. Luckily with Crestron I'm able to program a work around. If the RTI driver is constantly polling the receiver, this will always happen.
