If the screen is blank chances are that you will not be able to sync anything to it including any firmware update. This does not sound typical of a firmware issue, sounds more like a motherboard that came loose. Have you replaced the battery lately? Check the connections in and around the battery terminal to insure nothing became loose when the battery was removed. let the remote completely discharge and turn it off using the flip switch in the battery cover. Wait about 45 seconds and turn it back on.
If this does not work your remote needs service.

Have you tried re- running the firmware update? Or can you not get it to do this.

I have tried to re run the upgrade it keeps asking me to reset the T3? I have tried the turn on while holding the OK button without any change
the screen does start up but goes of after a while even while in the cradle

Does this remote have a good battery in it? Was it having any issues at all before you did the firmware update? Was the light on the charging dock turning purple rather than solid red?

I was not having any real issues with the T3 remote other then the battery going flat quickly, I have also experienced the same issue when I upgraded the firmware on the XP6 it is now a black brick it does not do anything anymore

I have never had a device go brick from a firmware update. The old t3 it's possible it could be dead but the xp6 I feel like would be recoverable.
With the t3 put a good battery in it and retry. I've seen shot batteries cause weird issues also if you have an older firmware version maybe try rolling firmware back..?
Lastly confirm your firmware and remote are t3 not t3v, t3v 2.4ghz, or t3v+

I have had several old T3's over the years that were terribly fussy, had to try over and over again to re do the firmware update. In about 75 percent of the cases I was finally able to get it to take can stress the battery faking you out issue, I have had remotes that seemed to work fine with a new battery installed but would not allow an update, replaced the battery with a new new battery and the firmware updated perfectly. T3's are really picky about stable battery amperage
