Does anyone know what the real story with RTI? They were suppose to have new suppliers and parts by 10/23/02 and they were shipping out a week after that! Well needless to say I am still waiting for them to send me a replace!! Its a shame that such a great concept remote has so many issue for production. I am at the point of auditioning a new remote. I need something reliable that will work more than 2 weeks!!! I understand supplier and product issue, I am in the same line of work. But to deceive people and and not keep them updated, that is a entirely new issue!!! That is poor business!!!! RTI is a small company compare to the others, they have a great conceptual product and can lead the industry if they are up front about what is going on. They replace the remote with no questions. If they tell us what the issues are and the timing, I will go through the hassle of swapping remote to improve their remote.

RTI really need to read this forum to improve product, customer relations and customer satisfaction!!!!

Thanks

The problem here is that the company is run by some excellent innovative engineers, but has no real qualified CEO to marshal everything together. I have actually discussed with some of my wealthier clients, the possibility of buying the company out for its own good.
{some are considering it}

Where RTI is now, and where it should be by now is appalling for sure, but let us take a step back for a moment and look at what went wrong.

First off and please correct me if I am wrong, but these are the same guys who came up with the lexicon remote, and further the internal workings and programming is basically Crestron?

So how many lexicon remotes do you suppose are sold each year? Kind of an exclusive crowd, right?

I believe that RTI did not expect to sell so many remotes and further, for lack of proper management and funding, has been trying to play catch up ever since.

Further, like the Lexicon, the T2 is not a toy, and I do not believe it was ever intended to be treated like a $29.95 all in one, or pronto, but that’s the way its used and abused by many people. I have seen dozens of T2’s, with chips, dents, numbers worn off, coffee and beer stains, pop inside and they still worked. I have also seen T2’s that did not work right out of the box, or for only a few hours. Notwithstanding, I have seen the most failures from improper programming, bad installations and overly aggressive use.

The T2 in its present form probably should have had a few more options
And probably should have been priced in the $2000 - $3000 range, leaving it to the higher end theaters where it would be this coveted little jewel like Phast/AMX, Crestron and the rest, something not to be touched by children or weekend warriors. Only the lonely factory trained guru would be allowed to program it.

I did a lot of R&D of my own to make this remote work consistently for my customers, But I am a professional installer, and that is my job, the average consumer should not have to worry about modifying their remotes like I do and that is grim, because this relationship could be the down fall of this remote. The T2 works almost perfectly for me time and again on every install I do and there is nothing in this price range to replace it. If it goes, so does a lot of my business edge, and in comes a lot of headaches trying to make that other stuff work half as well.

Blessings to all,

David

Thanks for the information..... I agree it is not a toy but a sophisticated tool like other A/V equipment and needs to be treated like one!

Do you know what delay on delivering the replacements are?

Thanks

Erich

Well 3 weeks ago RTI promised me by phone that the siege was over. Yeah and I want to buy that bridge you told me about too. Honestly we can no longer function with the lies from RTI. Is the new Sonance product the real reason we can't get any product? Really tired of looking like s... with our customers. Thanks RTI hope to return the favor someday. Now if someone could explain "just in time" to my local AVAD branch I might be able to get a Pronto so we can begin a new learning curve. By the way AVAD is not much better then RTI!!!

Hi David,
My name is Alvin, I also work for an Installation company out of South Florida. I just have a question for an experienced RTI installer. I seem to have the same prblem with the channel Macros not being reliable.Every thing else works and i've tried changing the minimum repeats to all different levels.I frequently install the hughes HD sat reciever. Have you ever hade this problem if so can you please help with the solution. Also i've never had the RTI stretch for 100 ft as promised. Are these common problems in your installs?

David,

We have not seen any serious problems with the RTI not executing macros. At least no more so than any other brand of remote systems.... What equipment are you trying to work with it?
