Hi...just starting to learn the RTI control system and need some help with Thermostat's. We have a request for a system where the buyer wants to have the XP6 installed (app and controller) for future expansion at a later date, but for now just wants to control 2 Thermostats. What is the least exspensive Thermostat that works well with RTI? I have been told that the Lutron Thermostats work well...but they are a little pricey from suppliers ($260 range) and you also need the Radio Ra2 main repeator. So to just control 2 thermostats I am at around $800. Is there a less exspensive Thermostat solution that works well with RTI? Honeywell makes some nice Z-Wave Thermostats that are around $120...but I have been told they dont work well with RTI. Like I said I am new to RTI and the board so thank you in advance for the help or any stupid questions.

Thanks!

We used to use Aprilaire untill Lutron's came out. Try to sell the Lutron, because it's easier to add on to later.

Customer: "I want to add lighting control."
You: "No problem, we already have the foundation installed and running. All we need to do is add some dimmers and adjust the program a little, and you will be all set."

I agree on the Lutron option...but initial cost is an issue at this point. I will try the CT-50 and see how it works.

Does anybody know of any drivers for any of the Honeywell Thermostat's? That would be ideal.

Thank You!

RTI doesn't speak Z-Wave, just ZigBee, RS-2322, and IP. The Honeywell thermostats are Z-Wave, except the one they make for Lutron. In order to control them with RTI, you will need a RS-232 bridge for Z-Wave, and they aren't that popular.

Honeywell has a new WiFi FocusPro that just connects directly to your WiFi...no Z-Wave. So in theory if it works just like the Radiothermostat couldnt a driver be written to control it as well?

You would think it would be easy, but not so.

First, the device has to have code that is not locked, so that code can be written to control it.
Second, RTI has to be given a unit to test out.
Third, there has to be enough demand to have the driver written.

I've used this thermostat as well. Same as radio thermostat. $100 bucks. Works well. Sometimes a little slow to update on rti panels (can take a few seconds if you haven't loaded it recently)

This is true but there are those jobs that will never have lutron lighting control, and being able to sell the customer a few little low cost bells and wistles is a nice touch and adds a bit more to the yearly bottom line.

The CT thermostats work fine. Like the guys said, Lutron is fantastic. All of these options WORK reliably. It's the features that set them apart.

Couldn't get the CT30 to work .

The Wi-Fi doesn't connected , tried several way with no luck .

Tried adding external 24 volt and no go also .. anyone have experience with this unit ?

The Trane unit working fine with the CT30, i wish i can get the unit to connect to the Wi-Fi and then i will be happy as not many Tstats works with the Trane units and over here most are from Trane .
