Hey All,

I'm working on a good, better, best quote for a customer and a dont do a ton of larger dist audio systems. It will be 8 zones of audio. Can I do something as basic Sonos -> AD-8 -> sliding volume controls. Controlled from the Sonos App? Or does an AD-8 always need a processor and/or RTI keypads?

Thanks,
Tom

The AD-8 is a stand-alone unit with RS-232 control, so any control system will work with it.

If SONOS is your one and only source you are probably best using a multi-zone amplifier with auto sensing capability without having to utilize the control system. The isea would be for the client to pick up the iphone/ipad/etc, start playing a song on the SONOS system and the amplifier automatically kicking in and playing over the house speakers.

The alternative would be to select a source / zone with the RTI app, then have to switch over to the SONOS app for control. The AD-8 works best when the client has multiple sources nad multiple zones where control is acheived through the RTI control system.

If i were to control and AD8 from a Crestron Piece would I have have all of the normal commands needed to do a standard DA system. All ON/Off, Discrete zone control for source and volume?

I know it seems stupid but I haven't touched one of these and expect it to have great protocol as it comes from a control company.

I need a step down for a budget project. Client has 10K for 6-8 zones of D/A plus a surround system. He wants iPad control and ability to add keypads and handhelds.

I don't do RTI at all but would use this amp with a small Crestron system.

Well, well, well, Mr Crestron comes crawling to the RTI forum :P

Tons of IR in the Mega 21...All on/off, mute, source 1,2,3, etc, individual Z1 source 1,2,3...treble, bass, power and volume discrete by zone.

Does RTI provide prebuilt templates for _all_ of their front end controls (e.g., T2x, RK10, RTIPanel, KX2, etc) for the AD8x/4x? We're spec'ing a system now for 5 audio zones and RTI control system (T2x, possibly KX2) and considering the 4x or
8x as the backbone.

Too, what kind of internet streaming sources have folks successfully used with the AD-8 amps, supporting 2way metadata to RTI?

Good templates or pages, yes, but still some work involved as far as layout and customization (it's not as rigid as C4).

On a budget, I'd like to see some input on the streaming question too. Or maybe when I say budget, that implies flipping apps from RTI or ProControl to the Sonos app :)

For a Sonos/Rti system we do following and works well.

Use a Sonos connect. Hook it to a Sonance 875 amp. This is rs232 with a 2way driver. Now add in an xp6 and use rkm1+ keypads with the Sonos basic driver and the Sonance 875 driver.

Now the one connect plays in 4 rooms with individual volume control per room with play pause track forward and track back buttons functional for Sonos control!

Then you can upsell to touchscreens and add remotes if you are doing automation or TVs

I checked the RTI dealer portal for Sonos drivers, but didn't find; where is this Sonos basic driver to be found?

Www.mydevice.com.au has one. That's also listed along with 1-2 other on the Rti dealer forum. All Sonos drivers out there are third party so will not be listed in the Rti website
