Is this common? What do you do when a driver stops working, delete and then re-install? Or simply hit upgrade and install the original driver?

Usually figure out why it's not working.

How do you figure out why it is not working? The hai panel is working, I cam log in with pc access and turn my lights on and off. So clearly the driver from RTI is no longer working or communicating with panel. You mind elaborating on what else I can do do diagnose the problem? Nothing has changed on my network from the last time that it worked.

I found a post in the dealers forum discussing the problem.

I had big issues with this at one piint. Reboot the processor.. If not try delete reinstall driver.

Is the driver and processor firmware most up to date?

Also do you hve a variable somewhere so you can see the connecions state?

No variable but it appears that there are issues with the drivers, RTI is aware, hopefully they will fix the problems.

The best thing to do in any situation is to try and figure out why a driver is failing. THe best way to do so is to create a quick basic program with some simple principles with the original driver set. Then update the current and make sure it all works the same. I have had some problems with some drivers in the past that RTI has released and they have been ultra-responsive in patching and providing temporary fixes. But being proactive and "taking one for the team" is always the best idea. RTI does not release new driver versions for any other purpose but to make improvements on the features and user experience. We all need to work at helping out figure out the issues.
