I've been digging here and on HomeTheaterSpot and I haven't seen this discussed. I'm trying to get my T2 remote to do fast forward and reverse (scan not skip) on my DVD player (a Rotel 1080). The remote for the DVD uses a jog dial and on the screen these are listed as 2X, 5X, 20X and 60X in each direction. I know this DVD is similar (from the code perspective) to the JVC723 and the Infrared Library for that model work fine for the basic commands. I've also been able to "learn" the codes for a couple of the functions not on the JVC (like the "Prog" button to switch from Progressive to Interlaced). However, the fastforward and reverse are not listed and I haven't had any success in "learning".

I've also tried to look at the ProntoPro files which do have the remote codes for the Rotel, but again, no fastforward or reverse.

Anybody else had any experience translating jog dial commands to a programmable remote? I'd hate to keep the DVD remote out just for fastforward and reverse, but that is may only resort at this point.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you have access to a Pronto, Pro or otherwise, I would turn the jog dial different degrees and learn different sets of codes into the Pronto. Then test what you learned keeping the desired results and discarding the rest. You can then "clean" the resulting hex with some of the tools in the Pronto files area. Then import the clean codes to the RTI. Good news is, you only need a couple of commands.

I have done a few jogs, what I do is try to capture just one tick, just turn it a smidge and not try to fully turn the nob left or right, then under edit button properties/infrared check the sustain box and then test the command.

I have stopped selling products that require the use of a jog control on the remote, because there is usualy a bunch of other hoops you have to jump through besides the jog wheel to get from point A to point B in the menu structure on these models, mostly 300+ disk players and such.
