Hello everyone. I just had a new RTI remote installed in my home and I love it. I paid the professionals 4 hours of labor to program the remote and was happy to do so. I would like to be able to make changes to my remote (favorites etc.) without having to have them come out each time as it is expensive and they have quite a backlog. If any of you would be willing to send me the software I really would appreciate it. I thank you in advance.

Sorry but the software is only for rti dealers, not for end users.

I understand that it isn't intended for end users that is why I paid professionals to do the majority of the programming. I just want to have the ability to tweak very small items. Thanks though.

You should run now, before it gets nasty.

We're glad that you like it. Currently RTI doesn't allow any modifications to the remote, ie changing favorites, by end users. The software is only available to dealers.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

I understand you guys protecting your business. I understand that there will be some people who do not like me posting this. But I am simply hoping that someone will be willing to offer up the software.

So why don't you call your professional installer who you paid to do the job and ask him for the tools to do his job ? See what kind of response you get.

You also have to keep in mind it isn't just about protecting our business, it's about protecting our right to do business with RTI. Our dealer agreements do not allow handing over the software to the end user.

I find that if I have done my job correctly, I do not get calls from clients wanting to make changes to their remotes. And if I do, they do not mind paying for it.
Usually the only time I am required is when new equipment is being installed (and I am typically the one doing that too)

It isn't us "protecting" our business....it is us following the law. It is copyright protected and property of RTI. We do not have the right to distribute it. If you wanted to play you should have bought a Harmony.

Could you please send me some of your proprietary workplace tools and software for free?

RTI needs to either provide a system that can be remotely updated, or provide a Client only software that can basically just upload an emailed file.

With our Elan g! systems I will log in make changes and be done in 5 mins. Today I drove an hr 1 way because I forgot to change the "guide" code when the cable company changed from Moxi to Moto. Granted it was my fault for not being more thorough when I installed it, but that is not the point.

As to the OP pressure your dealer to pressure RTI. Otherwise RTI will stand pat.

Hey Tony, how have you been? I've missed you here in Houston.

Oprahthehutt, you can indeed update RTI remotely. At least all the IP capable products. For the others, you can just put all the commands on an XP processor and use system macros on the remote. I've done that for jobs out of town so I don't have to drive out there just to update a channel change or other basic service call.

I will make a real suggestion for a fix.

Call your dealer and ask them to setup your processor so they can download it from their office. They can store the channel macros on the processor so they dont need to plug into your remote to change the channel numbers.

If your dealer does not know how to do this have them email me at [email protected] and i will assist them.
