Anyone have any success getting the 2413S PLM to work with the RTI serial interface? If so what were the settings and commands used. Thanks in advance.

You need to read this documentation, and then create your own RS-232 strings, using the RS-232 Library Manager.

I actually have read the documentation and then some. This is not my first rodeo:) The question is wether or not any one has had any success with it? I can connect the system to a mac or a PC and talk to it straight away with dedicated software, however I cannot get the system to respond to direct RS232 commands from RTI. Since the PLM has no status lights there is no way of knowing if: 1 The RTI is configured/wired properly to it, 2 the command string is correct as the documentation is vague, or both.

I suspect the string is wrong but my sniffing the code that is sent by the dedicated software has revealed little, as none of that is structured the way the documentation suggests.

Thanks for any help.

no disrespect, but have you tried a terminal emulator and the strings that are in the documentation?  I wish I had one here to play with, as it would be a learning opportunity.

I was able to get this to work. Turns our there are some conflicting commands out there in varied threads. Now I can send dedicated on/off and level commands to the switches all over my house. What's more is that it is incredibly fast and reliable. No switch has failed to respond when I string together long scenes with no delays in the RTI serial commands. So I can just create my own scene in RTI rather than trying to link everything and enroll devices into scenes.
If there is anyone out there that is concerned about using insteon in this fashion I would give it another serious look. I am now ordering additional devices and I will likely wind up making a complete transition at my house in the long run.

Is insteon light status available in RTI using the above method?Or would a custom driver 2 way driver need to be developed for this functionality?

Sorry for drudging up such an old thread but i'm extremely interested in this. If you are still around would you perhaps mind sharing the rs232 library you've built to control your dimmers, or perhaps just share a few strings that you've found to be working as a basis to start from? Thanks!
