I just received a reply from Shaw that says the Arris hex codes will not be released because of the NDA with Arris. I also spoke with a large installer in Calgary and that firm is recommending not to upgrade to the Gateway because they can't access the codes needed to make their systems work. I'm really confused what Shaw customers are supposed to do if they have a system that requires programming.

I have a number of customers with Gateway systems and am controlling them with RTI, URC and Crestron. I'd maybe look for a new firm in Calgary, maybe one that actually knows what they're doing. Super easy with URC, no jumping around at all.

I am so glad I stumbled across this thread. I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple months trying to get my URC RF20 to learn the codes for this box and work correctly (I just posted a thread in the URC forum and then as I was searching around for Arris and/or Moxi codes I found this thread).

Would someone be kind enough to answer the following questions for me please:

1. Can my RF20 be made to control this box without jumping two times when a button is pushed?
2. If the answer to #1 is no, can someone recommend a consumer remote I can buy that will work? I have all my equipment in an unfinished room next to my home theater room, so I would need an RF remote with some sort of IR blaster/repeater. I would prefer not to break the bank.

I loved this remote when I used it with my previous cable provider, but it has been giving me fits since switching to W.O.W.'s Ultra TV and the Arris boxes.

Thanks,

Gary

In URC's CCP software under the cable heading it's code number 153. You could try that on the RF20.

Thanks....no joy though. The RF20 wouldn't accept the code. You know what's absolutely the most frustrating part of this? URC makes the remote for this Arris media player, and they obviously make the RF20.

Here's the link to URC's website for the manual for the Arris remote: [Link: urcsupport.com]

If anything, you'd think URC would be able to get a code working for this thing. Grrr. I even tried learning the problem commands with an old AFO and then using that to teach the RF20 - didn't work.

Thanks,

Gary

They do have a working code, it's number 153.

The reason you can't learn them properly is they're multi-code signals.

Unfortunately, that code isn't accepted by the RF20, so they don't have a working code for the RF20. I am wondering if my RF20 can be updated to accept that code, but I can't get an answer out of their support folks who answer the phone (see below).

I understand why it's not working - unfortunately, I can't even get an answer from URC if the RF20 can handle this if they create a code for me or if my RF20 can be updated to accept the code above. I've tried sending them an email, as all I get when I call on the phone is the rehearsed script, which doesn't do me any good.

Thanks again,

Gary

You can't update it, and it probably the reason you can't find the codes is that it is a 6 year old remote, and the codes have changed since it came out.

has anyone got a faster/better way than having a macro for each button??

this way(ab macro) makes scrolling thru the guide and channel changes kind of slow.

i have a RTI system with an XP8 plus 4 x XP6 controlling 15 TVs with 5 arris portals and matrix switch.

i used the ab codes but its not nearly as fast as using the arris remote. its ok but far from great :(
