Well I don't have good news, tried everything with my RTI at home and Elan g! at the office with no luck, it just doesn't respond properly. It works sometimes but sometimes it doesn't. If you press 212 slowly it will work, but if you build a favourite button the macro only gets 12 through to the box??? Great system but brutal with third party control. I had an old Harmony at home and set it up in 2 seconds and it works flawlessly. I hope someone figures this out!

Hey gents, I was reading this thread and felt compelled to help!

Although I haven't had the pleasure of losing hair over this yet, it is just a matter of time - so maybe I can help.

I've been working with RTI gear for a few years now - and have observed some weird stuff.. From those experiences, here is what I would try:

(I noticed that the CDN guy said that he got it to work with the learning kit...so let's try and work with that)

1) Instead of holding the CH+ or CH - button like it tells you to when learning it in, try just a quick/normal press. ( I encountered this weird problem when learning in Gefen 4x4HDMI switcher codes. No matter how many times I learned the code in by holding the button like you're told to...the results would be sporadic. The quick press when learning instead of the hold is how I fixed it )

2) Try making a CH+a and CH+b command in the software, and then learn the CH+ command into the software consecutively. (This equipment may use toggle bit codes, so theoretically, the first press would be the A and the second press would be the B).

If someone feels like trying these out, please let me know the result!

Hey Drew, I relearned the Arris commands several times with no luck (I always do the quick press and release) still not working well AT ALL. Not sure I quite understand the A and B thing? Are you saying create a macro and hit the command twice? From what I've read the codes are toggle bit. Someone help before my wife divorces me, I convinced her we should switch to Shaw Gateway from Bell.

Well I think I made it somewhat better by creating macros for each button, I had tried this in the past for a weird command that wasn't working properly. I tried learning the commands from my Harmony (yes I have a Harmony) which works flawlessly in my master bedroom but still no luck. But creating a macro for every button seems to work better then just putting the commands on the buttons, best solution yet. SOMEONE FIGURE THIS OUT PLEASE!

I had same problem. Using Digeo code rather than Shaw works perfect. Use the setup button to get to the menu and the display button to get to info - it all works.

I figured it out for RTI (well someone else from RTI did), you do have to learn each button twice, one labelled A and one labelled B, every time you push a button it toggles between two codes. You then create a macro on each button and use the Toggle IR Code and put the A and B into the macro. If anyone wants the codes let me know and I'll e-mail them to you.

Have these codes been resolved and are they posted somewhere? would really appreciate the assistance as this is my personal system/remotes I'm trying to get working atm. Not looking forward to this equipment gaining popularity with clients before I can even get my own to work correctly. Thanks

Hello Wolfer14,

I have not been able to find the IR codes that work with the Shaw GateWay Portal (mp2000). I have been trying to learn the codes from the remote, and am having the same problems as others on this forum. The Up/Down arrows either don't do anything, or they skip a line. I am pretty new to this whole HEX IR code scene, and could sure use some assistance in figuring out how to get this operating properly. I (like others) finally was able to convince my wife to convert from an old Motorola PVR to the Gateway system, but she is not very impressed with how the system responds to the learned IR codes.

Any assistance in finding existing codes and downloading them would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

George

i have noticed that you really have to crank the IR signal Down to get these remotes to work well... too much signal and they just look dumb.

Shaw just swapped out my 3 Motorola boxes for the Gateway and 3xArris portals. We have all the boxes in a rack in a 3-level condo. We had everything running on three MX-850s which I have made small changes to since install in 2006.

When Shaw left, I realized I had no remote capability and three screens on different floors that could not be operated. I never should have swapped the Motorola units out--this was a big mistake. I've read through all the materials here but I do not have Harmony units and my controls are not working very well any more.

I have partial success by learning one MX-850 using the Shaw IR remotes. I still get the double jumps on up/down, left/right. I was able to use my old MX editor software on a WIN7 machine using a USB-serial adapter and it uploads/downloads properly to the MX-850s. That version is 1.12.288 (no update capability). The MX-850s f/w lists as v1.04 Aug-17,2007 and the data is v1.82/Sept 10, 2007 so everything is fairly old.

I would like opinions as to how best to fix this problem. Should I try to update the MX-850s (which are programmed for all the other a/v stuff here too) or go to a different system for control?

TIA

Paul

Edit: Shaw just wrote and said they have Arris hex codes but can't release them yet. Good to know for anyone considering upgrading a system like we did.
