I am trying to get my T2 remote control to control my 562V/568/596.
I have downloaded config files from this site and these work 100% for the 568 but for some reason I can't control the 596 properly.

I have tried learning the MSR remote, but this didn't help either, still the 568 seems happy, but the 596 just doesn't respond correctly to the codes.

The 596 just doesn't seem to want to respond correctly to the IR signals, but works 100% OK if I use the MSR directly (so I know the 596 IR is working).

The play/pause/stop/title keys seems to work "most" of the time, but the arrow keys do very little. The controls the 568 perfectly, just I con't control the 596 for some reason.

I also tried using the MAKEHEX Pronto utility to generate RC5 codes based on Meridian's doco, but this didn't work for the 596 or 568.

Has anybody else got a T2 and managed to get everything working properly?

Many thanks
Richard

I have Meridian 500 565 562v and all work fine with my T2. I have no experience with the 596 but if your other Meridian units are working via the T2 I would check the settings of each code in your program. Are they set to the right mode (rf or ir)? Is sustain on or off? I use mostly rf to control my system through a IRF6, all my Meridian commands go RF as the units are in another room. Did you try the codes from RTI?
Good luck, KDM ([email protected])

I have been using a T2 with a Meridian 596 and 561. After some fiddling they work fine. The crucial thing is to check the "800 Present" box in the Meridian config software and upload it to your Meridian Processor. I also found that T2 works better when the 596 (i.e. not the processor) is set as controller.

Hope this works for you.

Thanks Gyus,

Any chance you could email me your T2 config files. ( [email protected] )

I've used the codes from RTI and this website, I'm running RF and have everything set to RF on the T2.
I have my IR emitter connected to the 568 and the 568 responds perfectly all the time but the 596 does strange things or doesn't respond at all.

I though it might have been the comms cable between the units, but using the MSR (568 still controller) the 596 works fine so I think that rules our the comms cable and any other issues in terms of the 568/596 communicating with each other.

Hmm very wierd!

Cheers
Richard

I am afraid that I am out of the UK so don't have access to my config files. One other thing that did seem to make a difference was setting the 596 as controller and the other Meridian items not as controllers. If you do this, you will obviously need to route your IRF 6's IR emitter to the 596 instead of yor 568.

One further thought: My Meridian dealer tells me that such "ghost" problems (occasional missed commands) can be due to grounding problems. They suggest connecting every unit to the same outlet via plug strips. I have no evidence this works as I have set my system up that way and still have the problems once and a while. Mute seems to engage properly but does not release all units at once. My center channel (DSP5000C) stays muted till I hit the mute button a few times.

Well it looks like changing the 596 to be the controller fixes the problem.

All very strange, as I wouldn't have though it should make any difference.

Oh well at least it's fixed!

Thanks for your input guys.

Regards
Richard

Glad it worked. If you have similar problems you might want to check the Meridian user site whose details follow. It contains lots of useful information.
