Anyone try to do a "whole house" control of a CAV6.6 via RS-232 from a RP6? I've got control of the unit, i.e. the all off function works. I can't get a global on macro to work. I've tried sending a macro that consists of: Zone1 ON, Zone1 Source1, Zone2 On, Zone2 Source2, etc. This doesn't seem to do anything though. I tried delaying in between too, which shouldn't be necessary for an RS-232 macro, no difference. I also tried the all on command, with no effect. Besides, what good is all on, if there isn't an "all zones source X" command to follow it up with? Anyone have any experience with this? It shouldn't be this hard... Maybe I'm missing something stupid.

Russound has party mode command for each zone, use "all on" and then select one zone for party mode which make this zone the master and all other zones are slaved to this zone for source and volume control.

Drop me a note and I can e-mail the hex codes supplied by Russound for the party mode function.

Regards,

Glen Autry

So I send a zone 1 party mode, then the normal zone 1 source, etc. That makes sense. I do have a keypad I wanted to leave permanently in party mode too. I wonder if sending the party mode commands will affect that keypad's operation. I better just send the commands based on the zone that keypad is wired to, just in case. Thanks for the help.

OK, apparently I don't have the party mode commands after all. Could you please email me them? Thanks.

Hi, Rick, welcome to RC. I'm not sure Glen will answer since his last post here was over a year ago.

All of the hex codes are in the latest version of ID.
