I use the Model 4000 receiver (Dish Network) and it uses a UHF only remote. I believe that models, 4720, 4722, 5000, and 5022 all use a UHF remote. Will the T2 (with RF) work with these receivers? If not, are there plans to support them in the future?

No! via RF anyways. If you can get the RS232 protocal you can control the DISH system via the serial port. It's too bad dish doesn't support IR on those receivers for the dish picture quality surpasses DSS hands down!

Let's here it for over compression and lack of bandwidth!

I was under the impression that some of the newer
Dish receivers supported both IR and UHF. At least
I hope so -- cuz they don't have serial interfaces
on them.

The new 6022 model supports both IR and UHF per the literature...

DISH 4700 series receivers have always supported IR, RF or BOTH at the same time. I am not sure about the 6000 series since we have not seen these in the Atlanta Echostar Warehouse yet. I would think that it will also support BOTH since this was an extremely touchy subject on the 4000 (it only supported RF). The 4700 is a dream since it does BOTH at the same time (unlike SONY which is an OR). This allows a universal remote to control the theater and the RF to work through walls from another location when you are not sitting down for serious viewing!

FYI, 4720, 4722 & 6022 are SYSTEM Model Numbers that include a Dish 500, dual LNBFs (either individual or integrated) and a switch to change which satellite it is looking at (etither external or integrated).

As far as the RTI (manufacturers of the Lexicon 700T RF), the RF is proprietary and simply sends a command address to the main box mounted near your equipment. This is then translated to an IR command and sent to the equipments IR sensor or port. ALL RF remotes that I am aware of operate the same way. NONE use the RF commands of DISH, SONY or RCA.

I suggest to retire your 4000 to another room or the mechanical room and modulate it elsewhere. The 4700 series offers Dolby Digital and the 6000 offers fully integrated HDTV. BTW, the DISH Network HDTV kills DSS. Better picture, more programming choices and a fully integrated menu for ease of use.
