I have a situation where I need to control 5-7 Aprilaire thermostats in a home and get 2-way freedback from each - is that possible? What is the maxumum amount of thermostats you can use per processor? How are they distinquished if more than one can be controlled?

Thanks

32 stats per RS232 port on the XP8. They are addressable so they can all wire to the same Aprilaire busline, I think the part is 8818.

One word of caution, they do not have schedules built in and the 2way driver doesn't support scheduling other than event macros that you program.

Scheduling can be done through the XP-8. Set up an event on the processor and call up a macro for settings.

Thank you guys - what pieces would I require for a system with 5 2-way controllable thermostats?

- x1 XP8
- x3 Zigbee Keypads
- x2 Zigbee Remotes
- x5 8870 Thermostats
- x1 8818 Busline

What am I missing? Is there anything else I need? Thanks.

You'll also need the 8811 RS-232 protocal adapter.

Also in the driver make sure you set the correct number of stats to be polled otherwise the feedback is really slow.

Sorry, I should have clarified better. You can do schedules, but not that the end user can change on the fly without a lot of installer programming and a ton of flags.

I have gotten around this by getting to know the customers situation and giving him some presets he can schedule that will fit in with his lifestyle. You should make more than you need and keep them out there in case the customer wants to change it up later.

Just buy the Aprilaire "starter pack" and then add as many Tstats as you want.

The kit includes everything you need to do 2-way.
