We're working with RKM-1's linked to a XP-8.

If we use the 'select music' button to go to a particular page, the page lights at the top of the unit step through all the enabled pages as expected.

When we use the 'on' button, we have the programming set up so we simply turn the amplifier's zone on, and with this amp the source previously in use is still selected.

The problem is, we don't know what that source is. OK, so that's something we can flag, or use 2-way comms for. Whatever. To keep it simple we decided that for now, the ON can go to AM radio - a known state.

What we CAN'T figure out how to do is to illuminate the appropriate page indicator light. All we have is the 'OFF' light. Switching to the page (in the macro) gives us the controls for the AM radio, but the light doesn't change. It seems the only way to change the page indicator light is to use the 'select music' button on the remote.

Is this a firmware bug? Is there a programming step we haven't found?

And yeah, I'm new to RTI :)

What amp are you using?

I have a RKM-1 hooked up to a B&K CT unit working perfectly with feedback. When you press on it turns the amp on and tracks the source to the correct page. Creating a driver for the amp is the easiest.

Install a driver for the amp, update the RKM-1's firmware, set the RKM-1 in the properties to communicate via 485 and set the output to two-way.

If the amp you are using is not in the driver list then you have to deal with it within the macro. Assign a macro to the on button where at the end of the macro you create a page link to the AM radio page. The page link should illuminate the correct page.

You cannot track flags as sources via two-way. But you could use flags to go to the proper page with the power on. You just need to make sure you set and clear flags on every device controlling those sources.

Example On Macro

-Denon receiver power on
-4.0 second delay

-If flag 001 AM is set then
-Denon AM
-page link am

Else

-If flag 002 CD is set then
-Denon CD
-page link CD

Else

Etc., Etc., Etc.

Make sure you are using software version 7.2 and upgrade firmware on the RK1 to 2.00. There are some glitchy aspects to the LED light control that I have run across. Today, in fact, on a page using blue as the default, rather than change all of the buttons to red at the completion of the off macro, I had to flip to an "Off" page where the default for all buttons was set to red. The active button on the blue page would not stay red after it was changed in the macro. All of the other buttons (2-8) stayed red with the macro command. I have seen this before... the button pushed will not remain on a color set in the standalone macro... it will return to the default page color no matter what the last color change command was.
