Trying to set up a whole house volume page on a K4. Is there anyway to allow the client the ability to adjust all or any of the zones and then page flip back to the source after 10 seconds of inactivity?

We have something set up like this to switch back to the Home page after controlling a different zone in the house... You have to use flags to track your Sources then set a time event on the XP8 based on X mins... We have ours set to 7 mins then back to Home page.. Don't know about the "Inactivity" option... I don't think that's possible..

You might be able to use something similar to the volume pop-up sample on the two way training video (at 1:28:15), but rather than have a volume display you could have the pop-up contain all buttons you need to control the volume in all zones. Set the pop-up and all it's buttons to be visible and each time a button is pressed, you could run a system macro to delay for say 10sec. After the 10sec is up for the last button press then you can clear the flag and the pop-up should disappear.

Check this thread for more info on how to setup a pop-up with a delay.

Have a zone volume button on every page that will have a page assigned to the volume control page and also create a macro on that button.

-Clear flag 1
-time delay 10 seconds
-If flage 1 is set then:
-previous channel
-or if it's not set than
-

on the zone volume page every button will set flag 1

The problem comes when your on the zone volume page. I'm not sure if there is a good way to do this. You could use flags and event control but what happens when the event control is checking the state of the flag which was set 1 second ago?

You might be able to place all your commands on the buttons and also have a macro that goes:

-set flag 1 (see above)
-clear flag 2
-set flag 2
-time delay 10 seconds
-If flage 1 is set then:
-previous channel
-or if it's not set than
-

It seems like it could work.

The invisable button would work but you would have to layer this on every page and what happens if you change the page layout? You have to go through and make a ton of changes.

The problem is staying on the volume page, as you can't stop the macro that sent you there, once it starts. The question is "how do you stop a macro before it reaches the end"?

Yeeeaaah, my idea was in theory. I tried it and it doesn't work. I didn't realize the time delay tied up the rest of the screen. I'm not sure if there is a great way of doing this.

Solution:

Create a system macro with a "link to previous page" command in it.

On the volume button create a macro that says "in 10 seconds run the page link system macro" and have it link to your volume page.

On each volume raise and lower create a macro that says:
Cancel pending page link system macro
in 10 seconds run the page link system macro
Your volume command with repaeat until button is pressed checked in the properties.
