I'm spending the weekend at a friend's house. They have a T2+ remote. I think the charge died because the remote is completely dark.

I am charging it in the base (no blue light on charger) and am wondering if it will "come back to life" on its own or if I need to somehow turn it on?

If so, is the on switch the button on the bottom? I have searched the internet for a manual to no avail, and since this is a dealer only remote I don't think I will find one.

I could call my friend, but hate to bug them since they are off enjoying the weekend elsewhere. Thanks.

I hope you're right! After reading about the disasters of trying to remove the battery I have no desire to do that! I'm going to let it charge another hour or two (the blue light on the charger came on after some wiggling). If it doesn't wake up on its own I'll try to remove the back and look for a reset button.

If I don't see one I'm just putting the back on again -- I've read too many horror stories in this forum about pulled boards to try to remove the battery!

There is no switch on a T2+

Answer honestly-->
Did anyone try to take the battery out? if not don't try this yourself.

Did the remote get dropped on something hard?

Is the battery puffy? If yes needs new battery

Not puffy, clean battery contacts on both the remote and the charger.

Before the remote died, did the screen image get all fractal and distorted?

The motherboard battery connector could be loose or broken off, or the ground plain screw in side  bottom left is loose so the micro filament around it has burned off and needs a tin foil fix

Thanks for the info.

No, the remote was not dropped. It was working this morning. Was watching TV and went to use the "mute" button. The remote was completely dark and hitting "home" or the on button didn't do anything.

I figured it lost its charge (I have not charged it in two days). With any luck it will work when I take it off the charger and hit "on." I hope.

If it does not go on I'm simply going to tell my friends what happened. I am NOT going to try to change the battery, or even remove the back since there is no reset button. Perhaps the battery is bad, perhaps it is something else. Given the price of this remote I am NOT going to futz with it.

OK then if it does not charge clean the contacts with a little alcohol and a Q tip or equivalent and try to charge again

this is why I believe the batteries have issues...I make sure every customer is informed to return the hand held back to the cradle after they are done

This is going to sound ridiculous, but make sure the charger is plugged in... check all connections.

Oh, and make sure the charger isn't plugged into a switched outlet...

Does the charger light up at all when you put the remote in it... even a blip?

The charger sometimes lights up with a blip, sometimes doesn't light up at all (it is plugged in). If I wiggle the remote and push down on the remote in the charger I can sometimes get the blue light to stay lit.

Went out to dinner and when I checked it the remote was lit! When I removed it from the charger it went dark again. I had to wiggle it in the charger to get the blue light to stay on. I'm hoping it is charging and just wasn't finished charging.

I hope.

Slide the back cover off and touch the battery connector.

If it wiggles, the connector broke loose.

If it's tight, chances are the battery sh*t-the-bed.

The battery is dead, do you know how old it is?

I have no idea how old the remote is. I'm just a guest! I'm not sure how long my friends have had it or how long it sat at a dealer's before they got it.

I am pretty sure the battery is dead, because you mentioned you used it for a couple of days without charging and then it went black, It was probably an older battery to begin with, so letting it completely go dead was the straw that broke grandmas back. The other clue is that it seems to charge and then kicks off. it wont do that if the connector is broken

The battery is toast, they need to get a new one.

What State and city are you located in?
