I seem to have the same issue now too. Update my XP-8 to firmware 2.2 to fix issue with sense inputs not working correctly within a macro. Now my T3-Vz doesn't talk to the XP-8 anymore. Definately something going on with that.

To make matters worse, in my haste to get it working, I accidentally plugged the ZM-24 into the XP-8's expansion port (right below the COM port) and I think I fried my antenna. The ZM-24 smoked and let off a nice burning odor. Not a very fool proof design if you ask me.

Well, everything's working again. I had to re-download my T3-Vz program and all is well. Even the ZM-24 is working OK. But since it smoked, I'll play it safe and replace it with a new one soon.

Don't use the wall wart with the ZM-24 if it is connected to the XP-8. The XP-8 will power the first ZM-24. The wall wart is only for multiple ZM-24 systems.

Confirmed - the only time you should use a wall wart is if your using the ZM24 as an extender, or when you want to reset it - but not at the same time as the CAT5 to the processor.

Just to be clear (so no one else falls into this trap), all I did was accidentally plug the ZM-24 into the XP-8 Expansion Port, and not the COM port. I had no other power supply plugged into the ZM-24.

This burned out one of the chips (probably a polarized capacitor or diode) within the ZM-24. Got some nice smoke out of it almost instantly. To put those two connectors right next to each other (and with the same RJ45 jack) is asking for trouble.

I did something similar.  I plugged the cat5 for the rs232 connection on a projector into the RTI COM port.... for a few hours before I caught it...

I couldn't get a ZM24 to power up from the RTI COM port after that, but if you plugged in the wall wart AND the cat5 to the ZM24 then it would work.  I was told by tech support that power shouldn't backfeed INTO the XP-8, but I still got the pinout for the RJ45 and disconnected what would have been power coming from the XP-8.

Any progress made on your original issues?

i hate to jack a thread here, but seeing as you were talking about about XP8 and firmware, can anyone here with 2.2 tell me if this update fixed the sense input problems from 2.1? Or if they have noticed any other problems with 2.2?

Want to know if im gonna come across anymore un-expected problems?

I've upgraded to 2.2 on several systems using the sense input and it seems to be working fine.

No other glitches that I've fund.

What kind of problems did you have? We had a bunch as well and I haven't been back to update and test.

The only problem I had with 2.1 was the sense inputs stopped working.

2.2 fixed the problem.
