Hi there,

It says in the manual that the connecting block passes IR to control system, but doesn't say anything about 232.

Does it also pass 232?

Here's my routing:

KP4 with 232 programmed buttons + IR programmed buttons
going to CB-8

Also a KP3-V with 232 programmed buttons
going to CB-8

CB-8 to RP-6
RP-6 232 out to different devices.

I'm assuming it must, but have learned never to assume anything

Cheers

Do you mean a K4 and an RK-3?

If so, Yes, you can do RS232 and controll a device!

Another way of saying it..

Following the blue line from K4 -> CB-8 -> RP-6
Will the RP-6 output the 232 code I assigned in
Integration Designer for the K4?

I'm almost certain it will, but just making sure.

Yes, It can run the RS232 as long as you use the CM232.

Hi there,

It says in the manual that the connecting block passes IR to control system, but doesn't say anything about 232.

The problem you are having is thinking that the commands are being held in the keypads. Thay aren't, not when you are using a processor like the RP-6. All the commands are stored on the RP-6, and the only thing being transmitted through the CB-8 are trigger codes for the processor.

Now, in stand-alone scenario, a standard IR connecting block will NOT pas 232 codes, for that you will have to use a CPB-1.

This is the correct answer
