Is it possible to create your own drivers?

Has anyone done this?
Regards,

Mark

From discussions at CES I think they are considering this. During a conversation it was brought up for me to look at their 2-way. I told them I have access to Crestron and can do what I want, being limited by the control system in this day and age is not acceptable...

And there's one.

When the 2-way stuff was released, we were told that there will be a program put in place to allow dealers, who go through extra training, the ability to write their own drivers. It is supposed to happen sometime early this year.

I heard they are out sourcing the writing of the drivers as it seems to be a little more daunting then first thought. Hopefully this helps with more frequent driver updates.

What would make sense is to empower the installers with documentation about how drivers talk to the RTI stuff and let them get developing their own drivers.

Once installers feel they have something worth implementing, we could send it to RTI to approve and they could add it to their downloads.

At least we could then use our own drivers on our own installs instead of waiting for so long..

If you read the description, it leads me to believe that it covers both the Sirius branded tuner and the Polk model.

So... new drivers today for an outrageously expensive Media server and a discontinued Sirius tuner...

that is also discontinued. The sirius driver should work with any of the sirius rs232 devices however. It should even work with the SC-H1 which I don't see them discontinuing unless they go out of business.
