i need to control 7 different systems (7 tv's and 7 cable boxes)
so i need 7 routable IR ports.

the RP6 only has 6.

what other options do i have without going to an XP8?

can i hook one RK3 to 2 RP6's?

No, the RP-6 has 7 routable outputs

Port 1
Port 2
Port 3
Port 4
Port 5
Port 6
High Out (throw an IR connecting block here, don't connect an emitter directly to it)

:)

2 emitters should be fine.  It's nice since you have the IR gain setting for each port if you need to tweak it a bit.

I've spliced multiple emitters before and what ends up happening is the customer will add something and then you have to redo the connections again. If there's extra money add connecting blocks to each output. It will make your life easier.
