If you have it hooked up Directly with RS232 RJ45 to RJ45 the pin out is different. Check the notes on the B & K driver, the cable pin out is in there. If that does not work, just for kicks, use the RTI RJ45 to DB9 and the B & K RJ45 to DB9.
This is most likely your problem. Also, make sure you have updated firmware on the B&K and on the XP8. B&K didn't update their ethernet control firmware until this fall so if it's not brand new then the TCP control won't work.
