So I talked a client into getting 2way, but all they will really use it for is a iPort FS22, which I have done with an XP8 and works great. I sold a ZRP-6, as the client doesn't need an XP-8 or would pay the difference for it. I told the client that the ZRP6 wouldn't be available to end of the year. No problems there, it came in and time to install. But I didn't know that RTI was going to have separate drivers for the XP8 and ZRP6 when I sold it. Anyone know of any release dates for iPort on the ZRP6?

Really how hard can it be to have drivers convert to the ZRP6, if anything it should just be a reduction in things that will work.

I wish they would give us the ability to write our own drivers. Or maybe do it as a beta, even if it meant not tech support for it.

Actually did not know there were different drivers for the XP8 and ZRP6. I did notice the ZRP6 and MR64 use the same drivers. I wonder why there is a difference. The first few XP8 2way drivers rolled out with updates over the course of a few weeks.

Have you tried calling RTI tech support?

Even when they do provide a driver it will only be able to get meta data no menu function on the ipod. They say that the zrp6 doesn't have enough memory to provide the same 2 way as the xp8.

Two different internal processors. So yes they do have to write 2 sets of drivers, 1 for the XP-8 and 1 for the ZRP-6.

Also, it looks like the ZRP6 doesn't have the ability to use IP for drivers.  There is no drop-down selection to pick between RS232 and IP.  Looks like the network connection is only for programming.  For the time being, at least.

that's what they told me it was for at Cedia. I think this makes for a pretty big short fall.

I think it's fine, considering it's cost. It's a nice upgrade to the RP-6. You want everything, get the XP-8.

It just bugs me that it's an $1100 price difference to upgrade, and there are other companies who have IP control in the same price range of a ZRP-6 (or less).

They're not going to please everyone all of the time.  It doesn't do IP so I won't use it if I need IP.  Bugs me, but yeah, in comparison to the RP-6 I'm really happy with what it DOES do.

I also thinking about commiting this sin. And I know it's wrong!

Do I push for 3 K4's or tell the customer that I will install 3 K3's now and sell them 3 ST-7's when they come out? I know the ST-7's won't be out until 2011 but they are so damn cool. But I know what will happen, do you want to upgrade now? No we ran out of money. Or no we are happy with the K3's. I know what the right desicion is but I just can't stop the internal debate!

Good Morning,

I spoke to RTI about two days ago and I myself wanted quote a ZRP6 to control an Iport two way that is all I needed the two way for because it is a small system in a home gym. RTI told me that the ZRP6 will never have a driver for Iport or FP1 because the ZRP6 is not powerful for that type of capabilities and that they will take out a driver for the DLO homedock pro. I told them that they do not make the DLO homedock pro anymore and that it is hard to buy one. So conclusion is that do not sell ZRP6 if your main thing is controlling a Iport or FP1. Sorry about the bad news I myself had to sell my client another XP8 just for that system, Thank GOD she has money and it is not and issue for her. Hope this helps in any way GOD bless you all have a great week.

Sell the K4's, then if the ST-7's come out in time, you can swap them out and have a very happy customer, otherwise, sell the RK-3, and then maybe the RK-3V will be out intime.
