I am new to RTI and i have a T3-V and a T4 on there way so i can learn how to program them. I have used nevo and pronto and universal remotes so im not new to programing. My ? is has anyone used a RTI remote with a AMX Matrix Mi series house audio controller? AMX is installed right now but the homeowners hate it and wanna try something new. I want to be able to turn on individual zones and have a party mode to turn on all zones. Is this possible i guess is my real ?. Thanks David

I have used RTI as the remote for AMX systems several times. There are a few ways to do it.
#1 get a AMX RF receiver 433mhz (Good way)
#1 Put in an RP6 and a cm232 or whatever the RTI part number is for a 232 adaptor and run the 232 to AMX then get or right an AMX module to do what ever you want when it receives 232 info.
#3 Get a AMX TCC television controller with an IR receiver and have the RTI RP6 or Rp1 spit out AMX IR commands

All this requires you to program AMX as well

But I must say the RTI/AMX combo rocks if it done right

Can you elaborate what they hate about it? Is it the keypads or maybe a touchpanel?

If there isn't a central controller then you could just send RS-232 or IR commands directly to the house audio unit with RTI.

They hate the touchpanels because they are heavy and hard to dock. They wanted them because they had crestron at the other house and figured they would like the panels. So basically my question is if i take out the entire amx system and use the xp8 and t3-v, could i program this remote to show status in everyroom, vol, source, and then make a party button which turns on all zones and work the vol as one. it will be hooked up rs-232.

Not unless RTI makes a 2-way driver, but you can still do one way control just like the AMX system.

btw, if that's the only complaints they have and everything works perfectly fine I would think that it would be an injustice to have them switch over to something else. Not sure what panels are installed but AMX has much to choose from.

Perhaps they should inquire about trading them in for a smaller size. I know that you won't make any money but you might be setting your client up for disappointment.

Just my 2 cents, good luck.

The goal was to let them have both if possible, and let them decide if they liked it or not.
