Over the years I have wasted thousands of dollars buying various remotes like the Pronto only to give up and try something different. I thought the RTI Theatertouch was almost perfect until it started to intermittently fail to control my components (normally a Sony DSS and a Yamaha DSP-A1). I sit about 10 feet away from the antenna and the components all of which are in a fairly small room. We are not talking whole house control here.

I decided to convert over to RF in hopes this would improve the situation and purchased the separate RF controller box only to find the same problem. Sometimes I press a button say to raise the volume and nothing happens. If I wait a few minutes then it works.

Any idea what might be going on here. Could this be a defective unit perhaps?

If you have the sustain checked on the ir properties box the signal will sustain out of the irf6 and until the sustain is over nothing else will happen. Even if it was just a "missed" command pushing the button right away won't do it. Wait a second or two and try again. Also try unchecking the sustain box and while your at it check the # of repeats. I just did a test with learned commands and how long you hold the button down on the original remote gives you a big differance in the # of repeats: a quick push gives one or two, a longer push can give up to 18 repeats! I found commands failing because of too many repeats.

Thanks,

The sustain was indeed checked with min repeat of 1. I have unchecked most commands for sustain (except volume up and down) and will give it a try.
