I just installed my first XP8 and think I have an issues with my XP8. Unforurenaly the holdiday weekend is preventing me for calling support. As soon As I connect some Xantech Blinking IR's they start to stay lite. I can not seem to get IR to pass thru. I Also I have and RK3 working no problem but the 2x RK2's dont seem to control anything. I have changed the wires to the RK2, used differed ports on the CB4, reterminated the cat5. I even cut the ends and used the screw terminals.. I am stumped. The Rk2 is using RS232 system marcro that work ont he RK3.

PS Happy Thanksgiving

Have you updated the firmware on all the devices listed above?

There is a box that needs to be checked in the XP8 properties to enable IR passthru.

Are the RK2's set to standalone? If so, and your IR passthru isn't checked, then nothing will work.

Are you adding an XP8 to an already installed system or is this a new system as a whole?

Yes this is a new install. All the firmware updates are current. The Rk2 has 1.03. The macros are rs232 to a yamaha receiver and are stored on the XP8. The RK2 is set to IR trigger codes from Control system(XP8). IR passthru is checked on the xp8. When I put a factory remote to the TP and goto the Signal test pager it recieves it. I dont understand why all the IR emmiters are solid red.

I saw this once with IR passthrough enabled, one of the touchpanels was near a CCFL LCD TV and the IR noise from the display was the source of the problem

I turned off the IR eye on that TP and it solved the problem

If you need the IR eye on, put a piece of masking tape over the eye: it acts as a filter and sometimes resolves the problem: use extra layers of tape if needed

ok I will try that but Still not sure why I can not control the yamaha reciever with the RK2. I have even used the screw term. in he rear. I have tried a difference cat5 cable, also retermineted many times. Is the cat5 connection supposed to be "B" The RK3 used the same XP8 macro and works fine.

I agree with Mark, the default for the IR receiver is Off, but it is worth checking anyway.

I would uncheck IR Passthrough right away, unless you're using it for something in particular.

The IR passthru and sensors are on. Their is no TV near by. Everything is located in a rack in the basement. I only haave some power lines near by unfortunatly. I am still cant figure out why the RK2 powers up and works but will not control anything thru the XP8. the same codes are are being used on the RK3 and all works minues some IR sources.

Unplug your RK2's RK3's and any other input type devices one at a time until you see your emitters stop blinking or turn off. once you are able to determine what device is locking things up you can then zero in and figure it out.
I agree that you should turn off IR passthrough unless you really need it. It causes trouble quite a bit.
If you can't find the culprit then try shirnking your system down to just one input device and make sure it works perfectly before adding one more at a time and work through it to the end.
