My old T2 has finally bit the dust. I loved it and it lasted for years.

Am I reading everything right that you can no longer get the software to program and maintain your own remote, that the software is only available to installers?

Yes, that is correct. You will need to find an installer in your area or maybe you can find someone here who can do it remotely for you.

Wow, that sucks. I guess a new RTI is not is in my future. I am constantly changing components and don't want to have to rely on or pay someone else to make changes.

Guess it's time to start over and see what's out there these days.

Look into some of the new ones from URC, almost as good, and easier to get the software for.

If your system is not complicated and has common gear, the Harmony (Logitec) works fine for a DIY type.

you do not want to go from an RTI to a fuqin harmony. it may work okay for a little while, but be prepared for the POS to crash like stevie wonder on the interstate. you are welcome to e-mail me and we can work out a deal on doing offsite programming and updates, but do not go to lesser remote.

I agree, you will be severely disappointed. If you are committed to updating the remote yourself, look into URC. If you want a kick-ass remote find a nearby RTI dealer or talk to Steven. It will cost more, but the good stuff always does.

I think the original software for the T2 is still available without restriction: you could try to buy a used T2 on Ebay?
