Hey guys,
I am working on site today and I was wondering if anyone knows wha the wiring limitation is for the distance that a CAT5e can power a K4. We installed an RK3 orignially with no issues, now our customer would like to upgrade to the K4. Yesterday before I got kicked out for the day I tested the power to the K4 and it did not power up. The RK3 powered up right away without issues. This K4 will be used in a one way configuration so I am using 3 conductors from the supplied CAT5e (power, ground, ir.) If anyone knows why the K4 will not power up please let me know. I am also waiting to hear back from Clint at RTI.
Thanks.

What is the output voltage on the XP-8??
The K-4 needs 16 volts... It will work on occasion at times with 12 volts, but if you search it will go sideways on you.
When good enough is not good enough.

Well I ended up using a CB8 since that was the only thing that AVAD had in stock. Talked to Clint, he told me that a PS16-1 powering the XP8 with a single K4 plugged into the expansion port of the XP8 would do the trick for next time.

I would not do that. I've had problems with two XP-8's on 16V. Just use the included power supply for the processor and get a PS16 for each of the touchpanels.

Well, thanks for the heades up. What sucked about this project is, it had been wired before I started working for the company I am with and the guys who pulled the wire did not pull enough everywhere. So next time I will pull a 14-2. Thank you.
