Day late and a dollar short! :-p

It was released last Friday.

I've only found one glitch thus far.

The processor doesn't seem to be checking the sense inputs.

The input changes in the XP8, it just doesn't bother to do/or not do what you ant based on the sense inputs.

I've already sent a file to Brett an he's looking into it.

Is this a new issue w/ 7.1? I just hooked up a voltage sense from a Samsung DVD off the USB power and it is not working. I figured it was a programming error.

i can confirm, see same issue.
Feels like a firmware problem (V2.1) by XP8
Strange thing: Monitoring port action on XP8 display shows right status on/off

Any feedback from Brett regarding this issue?

Not yet... but it might be helpful if you call him and tell him your having the same issue. He doubts me like he always does... and always comes back a few days later and says "You were right, there is an issue"... as if I would have called and wasted his time and not spend the time to make sure it was on their end, not mine. ;-)

As for Timbers post abut the USB voltage... I just read a post earlier in the day (may have been over at IP) about using the USB voltage and why you should NOT do that... you might want to do a search and read that one. It made a lot of sense.

... and for the record:

I tried my voltage sense with 2.0 firmware and it worked fine. Upgraded to 2.1 and it no longer worked. I reinstalled 2.0 and everything worked again. All without changing anything else.

Someone else mentioned it, but I'll do it again. The voltage still shows properly (ON/OFF) in the status menu of the XP8, it's almost like the software is just ignoring the if/then statement in the macro.

reported, hope it accelerates solving this issue.

i detected another nice game using sense ports with events.
i needed this for setting flags, to use 2way reversed status of buttons.
Using only sense events it works as expected. Using macro sense Port status one time, it doesn't work anymore for this port even with events until i reset the XP8.

Maybe this helps you guys as a workaround in the field.

If you are talking about this

DEFINITELY DO NOT USE USB VOLTAGE TO TRIGGER A RELAY!!!

Sorry about the yelling but the 5 volt USB rail is not designed to operate inductive loads such as mechanical relays. Even using a blocking diode across a 5volt relay coil may not fully stop an induced spike plus the 5 volt rail is not a substantial current supply any way.

You CAN use a solid state relay that is optically isolated from the load and will operate safely on DC voltages from 3-32VDC. This type of relay will not load the USB rails.

This should be different from the XP8 voltage sense. I think the RTI voltage sense units fall into something similar to this category

Is anyone else getting any funny errors with ID 7.1? I just started getting "Unrecoverable error while writing file. The disk may be full or write-protect".

None of which are actually the case... If i try and save a file all it writes is 3KB, i've tried renaming the file, saving in a different spot and saving on the network.

Just curious if anyone else has these issues?

I've done 3 or 4 systems and system updates with 7.1 and haven't had any consistent issues. I've also done a lot of fiddling with my personal system over the last week.

I was using the Denon drivers and my PC started dragging ass. Then I got the "Program must shutdown" message. I reopened ID and tried again with no issues. I chalked it up to my laptop that is dyeing a very slow death.

Other than that, no issues.

I saved a file then reopened it later and all my changes were there, except the naming of about 10 flags had gone away.  They were still in the macros, but I had to go back and track down which one was which and rename them all.  That was weird, and annoying.

Have any of you run into issues recovering a file from an RP-1 or RP6 on a computer running either 64 bit Vista or 64 bit Win7?

My installers have been having issues with this lately.
