I tried about 2 years ago to get an older Pioneer Elite (930HD?) working via RS232 with no luck, luckily IR was easy enough in the setting the TV was in. Now I have a bedroom wall with a Pioneer Elite on the way (Pro-111FD) and I want to set it up with a XP8 and RS232 over cat5e. I have the XP8 and a few CM232's lying around. Do I need to get a null modem cable/adapter for this? I also already have the Cat5e to Serial adapters but any diagrams on the proper wiring of the adapter would be useful. Thanks.

On the old models you needed to go into a menu and turn SR off. The new ones you don't. I can't remember when they made the change but the Pro111FD you don't need to.
WIth a XP8 I use the RS232 port with no null modem, not a cm232. you'll need a gender changer on the tv's serial port then put the RTI serial to RJ45 adapeter on. After that plug a straight through cat5 cable from the tv to the XP8 then your ready to go. The codes are in the RS232 library. Remember to change the port to rs232 in ID7.

Thanks, I will be knocking that out this evening. Does anyone have RJ45 to DB-9 pinouts?

The XP-8 Comes with the adaptors, Shouldnt need to make any.

RJ45 jack on back of XP-8 to Adaptor to gender changer to TV
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

A couple of things to check...... Pin out. is the 2 send 3 receive on the TV or is it 2 receive 3 send..... Null modem is the answer. If you are making the ends as I see it has been sampled above, you will have to cross connect in either the pin out or the cat-5. Your choice. Check the Pioneer tech notes for correct pin out, baud rate and
If it can be wired........

Can anyone tell me the correlation of RJ45 568B to the adapter? i.e. would i correlate the first wire (white orange) to pin 1 on the DB9 port? and then orange to pin 2, etc? The pioneer guide just spells out the pin functions on the db9 port. Thanks.
