Today my LCD seems to have developed a dead spot. Every button that is entirely contained within a specific rectangle is no longer working.

I took the remote apart and cleaned the screen well and blew air on everything else.

Has anybody else experienced this or have an idea how to fix it short of sending it in for repairs?

I dread sending it in, as it has replaced nearly a dozen remotes, some of which use the same remote codes (RCA DTC100 and UTV).

I had something similar and had mine replaced under warranty. AVSmarts actually sent me the new one before I returned mine, which I did in the packaging the new one came in. Can't top that kind of service. Having said that, they informed me the new one didn't extend the original warranty.

Cheers,

Thanks DJ.

I emailed AVSmarts yesterday. They merged/bought etronixs which is where I bought my RTI last November.

I haven't heard back from them yet. Hopefully I will today. I continue to be amazed at how companies continue to respond to email in the same time-frame as snail mail.

There is a test to determin status of LCD screen, contact RTI direct and they will guide you through it. RTI will also supply you a new remote, if you don't get a response from your remote supplier.
